How To Disable Unwanted System Apps On Android 4.x And Up Without Root Access!

I tried Uninstalling System applications and bloatware from my phone to relieve more space unfortunately that was not possible for non-rooted phones like mine. I had to resolve to an alternative which is disabling those system applications. Luckily Android 4.x operating system comes with a very handy but underrated feature which is the ability to disable system apps. ' Kama uko na ideos sahau'.

Disabling apps is a way to basically freeze and hide any unused, unwanted, or unruly system apps that came on your phone (ie: ones that you can’t uninstall). This feature might come in handy if your phone came stocked with a bunch of unwanted bloatware that you never use. If you’re sick of looking at those unused icons cluttering up your app drawer, you can simply disable them and they’ll disappear for good.

There are various reasons that made me want want to disable those systems apps one of them being to free up more space on my phone, reduce battery consumption/ drain and lastly to reduce the load on my phone ssytem thus improved system speed. Whatever the reason is that you might want to disable an app, it’s a pretty straightforward procedure. Read on after the break for instructions. To disable an app, again let me insist you must be on Android 4.0 and up. If you are, then follow these steps:
  • Open your main Settings menu
  •  Tap on Apps
  • Swipe to “All”
  • Find the app you want to disable and click on it
  • In the top right you will see a disable button (if it says Uninstall instead of Disable, then it is not a system app, and you can just uninstall it like normal)
  • Tap Disable (If you had updated uninstall updates first)
  • Confirm by clicking OK on the pop-up dialogue
  • Exit settings
A reboot may be necessary, but more than likely won’t be 'if you are in an hurry like me'.
If you ever want to enable the app again, just follow the steps above and tap Enable.
